One of my most anticipated games for 2021 is Tales of Arise. Having played a good majority of the Tales series over the years, seeing Tales of Arise grow in trailers over the past year or so has been exciting. Bandai Namco Entertainment has unveiled an all-new trailer, showing fans some of the elements of the adventure to come.

Here is a short explanation of the trailer according to the press release. “On their epic journey to free the oppressed planet Dahna of Rena’s domination, Alphen, Shionne, and their comrades will visit beautiful environments, meet formidable foes, and experience various activities, like cooking, farming, and fishing, all the while creating unique bonds amongst themselves.

This new video shows some of these activities, environments as well as the new revamped “skits”  that players will be able to experience when Tales of Arise releases on 10th September 2021, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC.”

Two things stuck out to me in regards to the trailer. The first was the addition of farming and fishing, which I don’t actually remember being in previous games. The second thing was the revamped skits, which now look more like actual cutscenes than drawn exchanges that accompany you while you’re adventuring. I’m curious to see if they retain their old humor and levity in the face of dire circumstances.

I’m also curious as to whether there will be any announcements or celebrations for the fact that Tales of Arise will be releasing this year, which is the 25th anniversary of the Tales franchise. I wonder if we’ll get costumes for party members representing characters like Lloyd or Collette from Tales of Symphonia, or other characters from various games. Either way, there is a lot to be excited about, September 10th can’t come soon enough!
