This year’s release of Resident Evil: Village was exciting on its own. One definite perk, however, was the promise of an upcoming multiplayer mode that would expand the way we think of the iconic franchise. Resident Evil Re:Verse initially set its release date for 2021, sometime after the release of Village. Now, Capcom is saying the game needs to be pushed back into next year to deliver the experience promised. Here’s why that might add a hurdle to Village players who made a physical purchase of the game.
Resident Evil: Village came with a code in its physical edition for Resident Evil Re:Verse so players could access the experience for free. Instead, those codes will now need to be kept handy until 2022. If you lose it, then it seems like Capcom isn’t going to credit you for having played the game. If you purchased the game digitally, then you do have access to the mode by default.
It’s not a shock that the game mode got delayed. It’s the middle of July and we had no idea when the game was meant to release. That’s never a great sign, and it’s certain that this delay was likely known to be a possibility months ago. That said, getting it right tends to matter most to gamers. Capcom added in their announcement that the delay came so, “the team can continue working to deliver a smooth gameplay experience.” If you’re disappointed to see the game mode get delayed, then let us know in the comments!
