GT7 Beta Test Appears On PlayStation Site

Does anyone else get the feeling that there is a lack of QA testing in the triple-A market overall, taking from the indie market to do open or closed beta tests more and more? Well, according to GTPlanet, there is an upcoming Beta for the latest Gran Turismo game, 7. Of course, the game was originally slated for release early this year, soon after the PS5’s launch. However, as you can guess, the delay came. The delay came and months have now passed, but we still don’t know the release date of the coming racing sim.

Now, on a PlayStation site first spotted by GTPlanet, on a page that may not be intended to be public just yet, there is a bit of Gran Turismo 7 news. It seems the game is going into a closed beta testing phase for PS5 users. The trouble comes as a result of a process that both GTPlanet and Eurogamer have gone through, which allows prospective players of the beta to get a code. PS5 users need to go through the rarely used Experience PlayStation app, where you’ll have to start the “quest.” From there GTPlanet goes into the details of what seems to be intended as an Italian-specific promotion, but is in fact open worldwide.

From there, you can claim a beta key, but you won’t get it yet. That is, until you watch the 10-second long Gran Turismo 7 trailer, which seems to unlock the code early. That is where everyone seems to get the same code: 1234-5678-9012, a placeholder one might assume. Of course, with the recent reveal that Gran Turismo 7 and God of War Ragnarok will be coming to PS4, one might assume the beta will also be available for PS4 users. That doesn’t seem to be the case, though the page seems to have gone public early and it could still be in the works.

With the idea of a beta appearing soon, it might be worth speculating that soon enough we’ll see a release date too. The closest we have to that right now is that of a 2022 release window, which is not all that specific. We can only hope that we’ll find out more soon.
