RimWorld To Become Ideological Soon

Do you believe in life after love? Not really, I thought love was only true in fairy tales. Ok, music jokes aside, I think we can all believe that I am someone who enjoys sci-fi colony sims, like RimWorld. This doesn’t mean I am anywhere close to good at them, but I do find enjoyment in them from time to time, and it turns out RimWorld is idealogical soon.

Rimworld first appeared on Steam back in 2013, through being a Kickstarted early access title. The game would later release in 2018 with acclaim all-around. Arguably it took a bit of inspiration from Dwarf Fortress and looked at Prison Architect‘s homework while doing the art, not that I’m saying that was a bad thing. Since then, the team at Ludeon Studios has been steadily fixing up the game, doing bug fixing, and generally tweaking the game while support continues. The latest changes are coming in update 1.3.

However, as announced by the team over the weekend, the next DLC was also revealed to be quite… idealistic. Being an RPG of sorts, players of course want to play out their mad little fantasy of a colony of vole-people evolved to be very humanoid, while shunning all other forms of life. Previously, that was only something players could put in their own heads. I’m not saying you can work out every fantasy in game, but with the new ideology expansion you’ll be able to “play as tree-worshipping cannibals who carve skulls into every piece of furniture,” if you so like.

According to the update the team gave on Steam (linked above), they have been working on this next expansion for about 15-months now. The team also notes, “Ideology makes your story into your story more than ever before,” giving you further control over the colony and who (or what) they worship. I’m sure the question you now have is, when can I play it? As stated in the update over on Steam: “We’re looking at releasing 1.3 in about 2 weeks,” and “With the 1.3 release, we’ll also be releasing a new expansion called RimWorld – Ideology.” So it won’t be long until you can create the sex-mad, animal-sacrificing tree worshipers.
