Xbox and Digital Eclipse announced Space Jam: A New Legacy – The Game today in somewhat of a surprise reveal. I wasn’t anticipating anything like this, but it’s looking to be a really cool concept. The game is retro in its graphics and follows the classic Beat-Em-Up gameplay style of 90s arcade titles. It stars LeBron James, Bugs, Lola Bunny, and other characters as they take on otherworldly threats to Earth. The game comes to Game Pass Ultimate first on July 1st before becoming free to play for standard Game Pass subscribers on July 15th.
Digital Eclipse is no stranger to 90s style arcade games. The studio got its start in the 90s and works on retro titles to this day, including the recent Disney Afternoon Collection. Xbox asked fans last December to submit their ideas for a Space Jam game, but I totally forgot about it. They didn’t just make a game, they ran with two concepts provided by one gamer from the U.S. and one from India. Xbox will also release some limited edition controllers to commemorate the release of Space Jam: A New Legacy. The film is set to release in theaters and on HBO Max on July 16th.
