There are a lot of prolific PC gaming hardware companies in 2021, HyperX, Corsair, SteelSeries, etc. I’ve tried them all, but Razer seems to be the biggest household name of the bunch, thanks to their hallmark keyboards, an array of components, and marketing. They also have so much in the oven that they’ve warranted a press conference during E3 weekend, entitled the Razer Keynote. Here’s what happened in the 2021 presentation:

Razer has a rich history in the market of PC gamers, and they summarized it in the proceedings of the speech. It’s wild to think that 10 years ago a bulky laptop called the Razer Blade, with hardware that would be meager today, was touted as top-of-the-line. After an impressive graphic of glowing reviews, it’s announced that AMD will be incorporated into “The Ultimate AMD Gaming Laptop” in the Razer Blade 14. Packing a 14″ laptop with high-end components could be costly, but it’s a big step for small-form portable gaming.

In the community of PC gamers, gaming laptops typically get laughed at for being vastly inferior to actual towers and their components. Razer quells this notion by boasting what’s on the inside and outside of the Razer Blade 14, including THX spacial speakers, an RTX 3080, chamber cooling, and much more. The new laptop starts at $1,799 at its cheapest configuration, an understandable high price in the volatile concurrent PC gaming market.

Razer continues on with a powerful new charger and a new 27-inch monitor backed by THX. Cable management and that THX certification are the name of the game with this monitor, suiting any potential gamer in the market for a flashy new screen to view their games on. Shipping within 30 days, this was made to order and Razer was prepared for plenty of sales beforehand. Next up is something I truly didn’t expect but am astonished by.

Razer’s Project Hazel is an RGB-infused face mask that had the internet collectively laughing when it was announced a few months back. Well, Razer decided to push forward and make it a reality, showcasing it in their presentation. In all honesty, I think it’s a cool concept, but I have to think it will garner tons of weird looks and laughs in regular public at this point in time.

Razer has lots on the horizon, as they typically do, and it’s a testament to how successful the company has become after all these years. While I don’t think their mask will be selling out, their strategy on monitors and laptops is proving to be pretty successful, despite the large price tags. PC gamers are willing to pay a premium, and Razer showcased the luxury in this keynote pretty well. Expect everything they showed to hit the digital store shelves this year.
