E3 2021 is finally upon us! Phenixx Gaming’s E3 2021 coverage continues with a news rundown of all the things that were showcased during Gearbox’s E3 showcase. The show was 30 minutes, but it had lots of things to show. Let’s get started.

The showcase began with a presentation from Randy Pitchford regarding the upcoming Borderlands movie. Casting such as Edgar Ramirez (playing a character named Atlas), Cate Blanchett as Lilith, and other examples were also showcased. They took the time to also detail the difference in approach with the Borderlands film, as opposed to other video game adaptations. I am pretty excited.

Next up came a very short Homeworld 3 announcement, discussing a little trivia behind the series. It was the first RTS series to use full 3D axis movement. That was all they had to show though. After that, we got to see the trailer for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, though it was the same one shown at Kickoff Live. Kayla Belmore, Senior Producer for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, also took the time to tell a little more about the game.

It is Gearbox’s first foray into a Looter Shooter based in a fantasy setting. Despite doing DLC’s themed that way for the Borderlands games, this is their first attempt at it in a broader context. It is a standalone game with a new cast of characters, and you don’t have to have played any of the Borderlands games to enjoy it.

Another small snippet of trivia about the Homeworld series came along next, referencing the last game to release, which was Homeworld 2 back in 2003. Next was a rehash of the Tribes of Midgard trailer from Kickoff Live. Julian Maroda, the Creative Director for the game, also took the time to give a few details about the game as well.

In Tribes of Midgard, you play as a Viking warrior tasked with protecting the Seed of Yggdrasil, the World Tree. At the start of every run, you’ll need to explore, gather materials, and build up your settlement to protect the seed. Each night, evil creatures will appear to attack your village, so fortifying it is important. Maroda mentioned that there are 8 unique classes in the game so far, which is interesting.

A new trailer for Godfall was also shown, advertising a PS4 version of the game with a free upgrade to the PS5 version later on. The trailer also revealed the upcoming “Fire and Darkness” expansion, which will feature new enemies as you save the Fire Realm. They also revealed a new free Lightbringer endgame mode and a release date of August 10th for all the new content they revealed.

Another slice of Homeworld 3 was shown off. It will be a brand new entry, its own thing. They closed out the show by presenting Kevin Hart, who is playing Roland in the Borderlands film. Truth be told, the showcase was a bit underwhelming. There are some cool things in the works, but most of what they showed was already available in other places.
