I was honestly expecting a presentation longer than just fifteen minutes for this year’s Indie Showcase. Nevertheless, we got a bunch of new game announcements, and I think there are at least one or two games that will appeal to you but don’t expect any big surprises.

The presentation started with Lifeslide, a paper plane Adventure game that sends you on a journey through an ever-changing world. The game looks quite gorgeous and the world looks big. This definitely seems like a good game to sink some hours into, definitely on the more relaxing side of things. I’ll most likely be grabbing this one when it releases on August 6th.

Next up, we got three new games from Hooded Horse. Falling Frontier, Alliance of the Sacred Suns, and Terra Invicta all seem to fit into the RTS genre. While the genre itself is really not for me, I’m sure fans of games in the same vein will have their fun with these. All three of these games are scheduled to release sometime this year.

Falling Aces is a Film Noir-esque game by New Blood that is most definitely heavily inspired by the classic Doom. The devs aren’t even afraid to admit this, given the game’s official URL is “DoomNoir.com“. And I have to admit, the game looks like mad fun, and I’m in love with its art style.

Larcenauts is a fun-looking 6v6 VR-Shooter that seems like it’s not going to have a non-VR mode. While I still think that releasing games exclusively for VR is a big issue in the accessibility department, I bet those that own an Oculus and have enough friends that do too will have a lot of fun with it. It’s a shame that most of us won’t be able to experience this game, for one reason or another.

A game I wasn’t expecting but know a lot of people will be excited about is Toy Soldiers HD. This remaster of the beloved Tower Defense game improves the graphics, includes all DLC woven into the campaign mode, and even adds some never-before-played content. As a fan of Tower Defense games who never got to play the original, I might pick this up when it releases for all platforms this August.

Moo Lander has you utilizing all sorts of different milk-based technology to solve puzzles, exploring alien worlds, and taming… “Mighty Ancient Cows”. It also includes a four-player mode for you to enjoy with your friends. This is a strange one for sure, but I’m sure this game will also have its audience when it releases in Spring 2022.

B.ARK is a side-scrolling Co-Op Shooter where you can play as an assortment of adorable animals defeating waves of enemies as you explore the universe. B.ARK will be releasing for Steam and the Nintendo Switch this year.

If you like top-down Survival Horror games, Tunguska: The Visitation might be just right for you. This post-apocalyptic dystopia is riddled with traps and all sorts of other dangers, such as deadly mutants and bandits, so surviving in this environment will be no easy feat. This game is already out on Steam, having released on June 4th.

Neko Ghost, Jump! is a 2D/3D Puzzle-Platformer that gives you the ability to switch between both perspectives at your own will, as well as the protagonist’s physical and ghost forms at your will. While the graphics of this game don’t look great, I’m convinced that this will still be fun to play, especially for those who like clearing a level or game as quickly as possible.

The last game presented during this showcase is Extragalactica, and I think this one is my personal favorite from the entire presentation. It’s a retro-style Action-Adventure game where you play as a football player trying to save his rival’s planet in an arcade game. The premise sounds odd for sure, but the game looks like it could be insanely fun. Extragalactica is already in Early Access on Steam, so if you’re as intrigued as I am by the following trailer, you can already play it.

Hey there! I'm Aaron, 26 and from Germany. I mostly play games with a stronger emphasis on a good story, but occasionally can be found delving into a genre I'm not too accustomed to. Diversity and accessibility are important aspects in gaming for me as well, which are always important conversations to have for me personally.
