Broforce is a game I reviewed the other day over on our YouTube channel, and I also have a written review coming up on it tomorrow. It seems they couldn’t have waited one more day, maybe two? So, the developers behind Broforce, Free Lives, have announced their next game with Devolver Digital. If Broforce was about blowing up everything within a three-mile radius, Terra Nil, their new game, is the opposite of that in every way.

Described as a “reverse city builder about ecosystem reconstruction,” you are tasked with restoring a wasteland of destruction (possibly caused by Brochete). With procedurally generated maps, you have to turn what might be a nuclear-scorched land from a dry brown color to a lavish green land of nature, all in what looks to be a rather simple and relaxing game. This comes with the game’s Steam page noting: “Terra Nil, from eco-warriors Free Lives (Broforce) and recycled publisher Devolver Digital, presents players with the task of environmental rejuvenation.”

You might be thinking, well this is a bit of a change of events, have they done a Jeremy Clarkson? No, the game has been around for quite a while actually, starting out on Itch.io with a prototype build early last year. Then in October the three-person team of Sam AlfredJonathan Hau-Yoon, and Jarred Lunt released an update on what was a hobby project and became something much larger when Free Lives started helping with the project. The update stated that “The new version is going to be the same game you all know and love,” with more resources provided to make all the details better.

The game is also set to be part of the upcoming Steam Next Fest, in connection with Summer Game Fest, which is set to play host to hundreds of demos and developer-hosted livestreams talking about upcoming games. The six-day-long event takes place between June 16th to June 22nd. Once E3 is over, I know what I’ll be playing a lot of for a few days, as Terra Nil not only looks beautiful but fun and interesting.
