Console exclusivity doesn’t last forever. While the big-time titles for PlayStation and Xbox tend to stay that way, others have less strict rules. The perk of a timed exclusive is still significant, which is why we’re seeing them on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. A current PS5 and PC exclusive, Oddworld Soulstorm, will soon be coming to the rival console if a new ESRB rating pans out.
The rating, first reported and seen by Gematsu, is for Xbox Series X|S, the only new platform you can’t play the game. The Oddworld series is a cult favorite and Soulstorm looked to be a ton of fun. I haven’t played it yet, but now I’ll have even more options when the title likely comes to Xbox Series X|S.
Inversely, a recent ESRB rating intended for PS5 points to Xbox-exclusive The Medium heading over to Sony consoles. It’s funny to see all of these games start somewhere and end up on different platforms. Oddworld is less surprising since it’s a third-party title. The Medium is an Xbox Game Studios project. As an open-minded gamer, I’m just wanting to see access increase for all titles. Exclusives won’t disappear any time soon, but it’s nice to see more games available to everyone. Maybe it’s a sign of the future.
We could see a release announcement any time now, especially this coming week with E3 and The Summer Game Fest. If you’re hoping to play this game on Xbox when it eventually reaches the platform, then let us know in the comments. Already played Oddworld Soulstorm? Let us know what you thought!
