The game Octopath Traveler is an exceptional JRPG. I loved the characters, the story, and the combat. The best part of the entire game, however, was the HD 2D art style they utilized. The 2D platform hopped into unique dimensions with its creative design approach. It was unlike anything I had ever played before. Now, Square Enix is planning to use the same HD 2D art style for its upcoming Dragon Quest 3 Remake.

Dragon Quest 3, originally released in 1996 and stands out as one of the best early entries in the series. The first three Dragon Quest games are part of the same story, and Dragon Quest 3 is the first game chronologically. It’s also the third game that features the hero Erdrick. If starting with 3 remade means we’re getting the other originals down the line in this art style, sign me up. It’s a great way to reimagine games that are quite hard to return to after playing more modern titles.

The game is to be developed by AMATA K.K. & Team Asano. Team Asano refers to projects lead by Tomoya Asano, the producer of both the Bravely Default series and the Octopath Traveler series. The producer who presented the game at the recent Dragon Quest 35th Anniversary Livestream explained that both old-time fans who played the original game and newcomers will be able to enjoy the game.

If you’re a fan of the old-time Dragon Quest games, then let’s face it, they didn’t hold up all that well in terms of presentation. The trailer above, however, looks incredible and will surely be a draw for people who enjoyed Octopath and love beautiful RPGs. If you’re interested in the game, then let us know in the comments!
