Since the announcement of Cozy Grove, I have been very intrigued and excited about it. Visually similar to Don’t Starve, Cozy Grove seems to pull off a relaxing life-simulation game, but with a different sort of aesthetic. Spry Fox and The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild announced yesterday the release of Cozy Grove on Steam, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch.

The game will be $14.99 with a 10% discount for launch week and is meant (according to the press release) to be played in short bursts over a long period of time. It seems quite similar to things like Animal Crossing in that regard. For those of you who aren’t aware of Cozy Grove, here is the general premise per the press release:

Cozy Grove is a game about everyday life on an island paradise – that’s haunted! As a spirit scout, it’s your job to help the spectral inhabitants with their afterlives. You’ll build a camp, make friends with the characters, and bring color back by decorating. Explore the forest every day to find new items to craft, and areas to explore.

Embark on quests tied to your relationships with the various spirits, decorate and customize your camp, make the island your own! With procedurally generated changes and a living world to keep you company, you’ll never run out of fun new things to do or collect. With a little time, a little love, and a lot of crafting you’ll bring color and joy back to Cozy Grove!

I’m always glad to see games that are a bit more low-key, especially games that are meant to be played to relax. Cozy Grove is just the right type of game for people who need to unwind. Here’s hoping people rally behind Cozy Grove and the team at Spry Fox.
