Acapella YouTuber Smooth McGroove Returns After Hiatus

As someone that’s frequented YouTube for more than a decade, there’s a lot of channels in my subscriptions that have stopped posting several years back. I’ll remember they exist when they eventually post, but it’s almost always a rebrand or a life update. Now though, I received a burst of joy discovering that Smooth McGroove is back to making more acapella covers of video game music, as his last video was in July of 2019.

Two weeks prior, McGroove posted one of those aforementioned life update videos to detail why he was away. He was diagnosed with kidney issues and adrenal fatigue in 2019, contributing to a prolonged absence and the breaks/burnout in years before. Thankfully, McGroove has taken ample time to recover, revealing that he’s utilized a new diet that has helped immensely, “My health bar was slowly being healed.” Now that his pain has seriously subsided, it’s time for a new acapella video!

McGroove is thrilled to be back and has released his newest cover, New Super Mario Bros.‘ World Theme. With nine layers of vocals, all the bases are covered here, with room to spare for gorgeous harmonies. It’s evident that McGroove hasn’t missed a step. The excitement from the update video is on full display. As McGroove’s Patreon has been republished, it’s clear that he’s back for good and will renew his high output in the future.

While tons of channels have gone by the wayside, it’s refreshing to see one return in glorious fashion. Even better is being able to hear that Smooth McGroove is doing as well as he is and has a renewed fervor for his talented passion. Now is as good a time as any to dive back into McGroove’s acclaimed videos. There’s a good chance your favorite video game tracks have gotten his treatment. Welcome back, Smooth McGroove!
