Well, the motorsport world has had an awful few weeks. Of course, as I opened my review of Drive to Survive Season 3, I referred to Murray Walker’s famous race start quote, who passed just weeks before. More recently, Scottish F1 driver and Le Mans winner Johnny Dumfries died. However, for those that are outside of the niche of F1, the Queen of the Nurburgring Sabine Schmitz passed earlier this month following what was for a while secret battle with a short and as she put it, “extremely stubborn [form of] cancer.” She’d been fighting it since 2017 and had kept it at bay, but as she revealed on July 19th last year (in German), “he’s back.

Those of you who know of Sabine probably best know her from her appearance on Top Gear, making Richard Hammond defecate himself and making Jeremy Clarkson respect her. With that appearance, she made it into many people’s hearts. Even before that, she’d race and win 24-hour races almost 10-year prior on the track that had become her domain. Now following her passing, tributes poured in highlighting the love for her. One such tribute is coming from the Xbox exclusive Forza Motorsport series.

As a way to pay tribute to her almighty attempt back in 2005, players of Forza Motorsport 7 can now play the event mimicking her attempt of getting a little transit van around the Nordschliefe. It is the same track she’d driven roughly 30,000 times, and the track that has claimed many of a life itself. A well-deserved moniker for a fantastic driver, a legend, and of course, queen.
