I’ll admit, as much fun as I have had with Overcooked! All You Can Eat while preparing for this review, I’m a bit ashamed of myself for not picking up these games and playing them sooner. Overcooked! All You Can Eat contains Overcooked, Overcooked 2, and all of its DLC, along with a few extra bonuses.

One major bonus is that both games now support cross-play, which means you can play with friends on PC, Xbox One, PS4, or other friends on Switch. On top of that, there are new skins (including Swedish Chef), new levels, and new cooks specifically for the All You Can Eat version.

With the extras out of the way, you’re probably wondering what the gameplay of Overcooked is all about. Overcooked and Overcooked 2 are couch Co-Op or online Co-Op multiplayer adventures, where you cook dishes in various kitchens all over the place. There are two modes, Story Mode and Arcade Mode. Arcade mode puts you in various kitchen environments, while Story Mode actually has you slowly progress through various areas.

You may cook in a busy street, where you have to avoid pedestrians while moving back and forth across the kitchen or you might cook on a ship where your kitchen is constantly moving and rocking due to the waves. The game may ask you to prepare burgers, soups, or all sorts of dishes, using stoves, skillets, cutting boards, and other things to prepare your ingredients.

Learning how to navigate the kitchen in each level is just as important as being fast in getting orders out. If you upset a customer by making them wait long enough, they will leave and you’ll get a penalty. At the end of the timer for each level, your score earns you up to three stars, which represents how well you did.

In Overcooked 2, you can throw ingredients and dishes across the kitchen to work together if you can’t quite get something to your partner. Teamwork is vital in any of the Overcooked levels because, without it, you won’t clear all the orders you need. Being able to communicate, divide the tasks, and prioritize things are all part of the learning curve.

Truth be told, I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to pick up Overcooked! All You Can Eat. It is two full games, plus all the DLC and new content to boot. Playing it on Switch is great because you can take it on the go, play with friends in local or online Co-Op, and enjoy the intense cooking and time management fun.

The story modes are quirky and fun, the characters are cute, the levels are inventive, and there is just so much to love about Overcooked! All You Can Eat. If you don’t own the games already on PC or other consoles, now is the perfect time to get ahold of the definitive experience.
