Hear me out when I say this, Loop Hero, which I reviewed just last week, is fantastic. Not only for its dyslexic-font mode which fixes the pixel-based typeface that can sometimes be difficult to read for some, including myself, but it is a fun game. As I said in the review, it is everything I usually either hate or just find displeasure from, yet I love it!

Well, it turns out I am not the only one. Publisher Devolver Digital and developer Four Quarters announced yesterday the sale numbers after just a week. Steam topped 500,000 players looping the randomly generated worlds all week, with a player average of about 12-hours (according to Eurogamer) of in-game time and an overwhelmingly positive review score from Steam users. With a note as a way of celebrating, the team is collaborating with Bard-the-Zombie to create a series of Steam trading cards.

Along with these came the announcement that the team is also working on quality-of-life updates. Focusing on player feedback, they give an example of a save system that works mid-expedition, and the ability to speed up the game without having to edit the game’s actual files. Following all of this, the team wants to add cards, transformations, classes, and music.

Honestly, if you haven’t played this fantastic card-based Rogue-like, you are simply missing out. As I said in the review, the fantastic art-style of the characters is downright beautiful, with wonderfully dark and fantasy-based creatures you’ll end up facing off with. It is all dressed up as if it fell backward out of a late-80s to mid-90s CRT monitor, but feels so smooth and wonderful, as if it only released last week. You need to play it, and I want to play it on the Switch so I can poop and loop. That might be a bit of an overshare.
