With the recent series that I’ve been working on surrounding Watch Dogs: Legion‘s soundtrack, I feel like I’ve missed a trick referencing the game’s many delays. Recently we covered the new release of the Online mode for Legion, set for tomorrow, but it seems… “Time After Time” we’re met with delays. This time, of course, there was a more immediate issue for going to launch.

In the announcement made via social media, the team noted that with several GPUs, they’ve found a crashing problem. This has resulted in the team delaying the PC launch entirely until they have a fix. This is something that will be communicated later on.
However, the announcement also came with a note for console players who will get the online mode tomorrow, the 9th of March. In phrasing that is a little confusing for some, the team also notes issues found within the console version of the online mode. For all consoles, the Tactical Ops missions will not feature, as they seem to be crashing the game on Xbox consoles, PlayStation consoles, and Stadia. On PS4 and PS5, for the time being, players will only be able to use the in-game text chat, as there is a bug with the voice chat.
The console issues are scheduled to be updated and fixed by the 23rd of March. However, the release of the mode itself will continue on the 9th, as already mentioned. While we have a solid timeline for the console ports getting full features, it seems there is no timeline for when the PC issues will be fixed.
While some would rather moan about a delay, I have to say, I’d rather see a stable release. Yes, it is annoying seeing an announcement (covering it), then having to look at a delay (and cover that), before it gets another announcement (which you’ve to cover), and so on. The sad truth is, very little can be done if a game-breaking bug is found last minute. Unless you are CD Projekt RED, and you steam ahead with a launch that’s not even fit for beta testing.
