Well, honestly, we’ve known this since the game’s release. It just had to be coming, otherwise, why put Switch controls into the base code? In an official announcement yesterday, following a quick bit of the rumor mill spinning wildly (thanks Eurogamer); The Tony Hawk’s Pro Skate 1 + 2 remasters are coming to the Nintendo Switch at some point “later in 2021!”

The rumor mill was spun up good ol’ uncle Tony got on the Twitter machine and teased: “Just heard #Crash4 is coming to new platforms and I’m kinda jealous. Hey[,] @CrashBandicoot can you hook @TonyHawkTheGame up?” This created a dog pile (side note: I was nearly thrown out of school for one of those!) as everyone got in on tweeting little teasers and side-eye glances at each other like a Mexican stand-off of words. This continued with the Crash account asking if Activision could help, to which Nintendo of America came in to add fuel to the fire. Though responding to Hawk itself, the Activision account gave the simple response of just a side-eye emoji. The same type of thing Ubisoft used when teasing Scott Pilgrim’s return last May.

I think it goes without saying, I fell in love with the remakes of the type of games that made me love games in the first place. I said it in the review, at the end of the year in two articles, and so on. However, the idea of a proper Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater on the go (which we’ll be able to do once vaccines are out) is brilliant. I’ll never stop playing at that point. As I’ve recently discussed with a friend who got a Switch, that’s the best bit about it. It is versatile. If you are a fan of falling flat on your face while on the go (as I am), but don’t want to deal with the medical bills, this seems like it will be perfect for you.
