A new Nintendo Direct event is taking place on February 17th. The news broke on February 16th directly from Nintendo. Fans wondered when the next event of this sort might take place. We also got a bit of insight into what to expect from this event from Nintendo. All in all, the mysteries still outweigh what we know, but we can at least expect some big game news from the company as they turn their attention towards what could be a busy spring slate of games.
The big things to focus on for this event include a few huge series for Nintendo. Firstly, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is named specifically in the announcement. A character announcement could be huge but we just got a new one not too long ago. Maybe there are more costumes coming for Mii Fighters or another surprise we can’t quite speculate. There’s also the pending follow-up reveals for Pokemon 25, the 25th-anniversary celebration for Pokemon that might mean new games this year.
Nintendo also notes that the event will focus on games releasing in 2021. This is great news considering how quiet the lineup for Switch is as of now after the Spring. We might end up seeing a few surprise titles get announced from indie publishers. The real big news would be a reveal of some titles from Nintendo itself. The upcoming 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda at the end of the month might mean a fun reveal. Ideally, we’d get something similar to Super Mario 3D All-Stars but who knows.
