MLB The Show 21 is coming this April to PlayStation and, for the first time in years, Xbox consoles. The series is the top MLB game in the world, and it’s exciting to see a new game so close. As an Xbox game by default, I’m especially excited to get the game on my favorite console. There are even some new gameplay modes and styles I’m really excited to check out that we got a glimpse of in a new video from Sony.
San Diego Studio, a PlayStation-owned development hub, is still running the game series. The new modes come as a way to change how players can experience the game. A lot of us grew up on the more simulation-style baseball games, so it’s crucial to still offer this experience. We know we’ll also get a competitive mode that helps puts players’ skills to the test. The best part of this mode is going to involve the more technical aspects of the game, which run quite deep if you learn the mechanics well enough.
Everything from pitching to baserunning in MLB The Show is wildly deep in terms of how you can get the upper hand on the opponent. For example, placing pitches and choosing the force you use is one thing. Deciding to lay off on a pitch you’re using for speed can really help throw off the competition.
With more of a say on those things in competitive modes, I think the game is going to really find its groove with the expanded audience. Check out the video below and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
