With the upcoming Forza Motorsport reboot yet to be given a release date, there may be no new Forza game coming to the Xbox Series X/S in the next generation’s first year. Of course, the Motorsport reboot was announced in July at the Xbox Games all-digital showcase in place of the E3 announcement that would undoubtedly include a car. Then just at the tail end of November and start of December, we got a rumor that the next Forza game to come would be a Horizon one. The series that is the open-world version of the Forza series. Technically, that rumor was right, just not a brand new one.

When it was announced the third Horizon game would be delisted from the Microsoft Store, I mentioned playing the fourth game. Forza Horizon 4 is set in the UK by way of inverse T.A.R.D.I.S. it smooshes the English countryside, a Welsh village, and a Scottish city into one relatively small map, putting the Cotswolds two miles away from Edinburgh. I quite like the game, and think it is one of the few times such squishing really works well.

Back to the rumor turning out to be true, kind of. The next release slated for Forza is Horizon 4 on Steam. Ok, anti-climatic it might be, but it is the first in the series to jump from the Microsoft store and release onto the PC platform I’m told is the only one, if you ignore all the others. Forza Horizon 4 will be releasing onto the PC’s favorite little abusive partner on March the 9th. The release is also being joined by several of the game’s expansions, one of which turns everything into LEGO… I need say no more.

Though there is also the trouble of the new upcoming expansion, the Hot Wheels Legends Car Pack. Much like the Motorsport reboot, it has yet to get a release date. The coming release onto steam will feature three different editions, all including incremental numbers of DLC bolted on. With the Steam release announced, it is also important to note that the open-world adventure will allow you to join other players on the Xbox family of consoles (One and Series X/S), Windows PC players already using the Microsoft store version, and cloud players on Android through Game Pass Ultimate.
