It goes without saying, the games industry is one that thrives on hype and established appeal. Either of studios behind big ambitious projects such as Dragon Age 4 or Cyberpunk 2077, or you have an established series with broad mass appeal, such as Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Other times it is simple home-grown excitement for a sequel that was announced some time ago now. Such is the case with Techland’s Dying Light 2, a sequel to the aptly named Dying Light.
Now, it seems following the studios’ attempted teasing of big things coming this year; Dying Light 2 is doing much like those zombies from the first game did when I sat crying atop an ambulance. What i mean is, it is jumping out at us. While the studio in the New Year played coy, the idea of them teasing anything at all would put fans on high alert ready to believe anything coming out about the game. Well, neither the entire game nor its release have been leaked, but the purported Collector’s Edition for the game has.
As reported by those on the forum board Resetera, you could find what seemed to be the game’s Collector’s Edition via a Czech storefront called Xzone. A quick Google search now, and you’ll find the simple PC edition alone without all the special garments around it, as you’d normally find in special editions. As one Resetera user points out, the store listing might be down; however, the image of the listed edition is still hosted on the site’s servers. Featuring all you’d expect, you have the special box, the game’s deluxe edition, some stickers, a flashlight, a map of the in-game world, an art book, a steel book case, and a limited edition statue.
I don’t want to be the damp squib, but I will put a bit of a kibosh on something. The image being shared around (and shown above) is a little fuzzy in places, suggesting it might not be the highest quality of images. I am not saying it is fake, and I am not saying one uncorroborated Reddit user’s rough conversion of Czech and Euro pricing of it sitting around €210 (roughly $250-$260) is true either. What I will say is to take this with the heaviest pinch of salt you can and wait until the game’s actual announcements. The image could be a solid, or it could be a quick Photoshop edit with the strangely odd pixel count at 1536 by 779 pixels.
