Editor’s Note: A link has been added to detail the five games being added to Prime Gaming in January.
You know what they say: New Year, new me. Too bad I am still the same old curmudgeon that hates free-to-play, mobile, and online games. It must be that time of the month where I talk about all that is “free” with your subscription to Prime Gaming. As a note before going ahead, we’ll be covering what is known of by the time of publishing – i.e we can’t cover this month’s five (or so) games if we don’t know about them yet. We will be covering that in next week’s article. This just saves you time, though sadly not my sanity.
Let’s begin with the seemingly never-ending hell, or at least one of them, as it continues to pour out nonsense like a mad uncle around Thanksgiving. Grand Theft Auto Online updated, adding a huge heist and island to the multiplayer that much like your mad uncle, asks for money at every turn. Currently, your Prime subscription can snag you a weekly bonus of $200K each week with an extra $200K for four consecutive weeks of playing online (a total of $1-million a month). You can also get the Kosatka Submarine Sonar Station in the online portion of the game.
Similarly money-grabbing, Red Dead Online is continuing the previously established Bounty Hunter-focused loot. The current loot is still available, waiting for the next update. Players of RDO can get a $1K sign-up bonus, the Bounty Hunter license, a purple bounty wagon tint (rank 25+ bounty hunter and 3 role tokens required), a free ability card upgrade, and a 50% discount at a fence for a weapon pamphlet. Both GTA Online and RDO‘s loot are available for a seemingly indeterminate amount of time, with the same “offer ends 22 Aug” that was there since last year.
- Seemingly the final offer for players of Epic Seven, players can pick-up 20 Leif(s), once again. This offer ends on the 13th of January.
- Refreshing after the end of last month’s final offer, those playing Valorant can get 10 Radianite points. Offer ends on the 19th of January.
- Those playing SMITE can now pick up the fourth of nine total drops. This time you get Swarm Sentry’s Ah Muzen Cab skin. This offer ends on the 25th of January.
Please let this be the final of this one; I beg to whatever the higher-power is ruling over Amazon, pretty please! In the (assumed) final offering for Big Farm: Mobile Harvest, players can pick-up 25 premium dog treats for something that still torments my nightmares. This final offer ends on the 11th of January, which could not come sooner.
- Also ending on the 11th is Agar.io‘s current offer of one golden potion, a mystery skin, and a 24-hour triple boost of mass.
- Ending tomorrow morning (the 5th of January), the three mystery skin shards for League of Legends players will disappear.
- The fourth of eleven total drops for Rogue Company offers players the Kikuma Winter ’20 Ronin outfit skin. This offer will end on the 28th of January.
- Players of Roblox can still pick up the 5th drop, the Icy Horns, available until the 12th of January.
Remember when everyone was on Fall Guys like Takeshi Kitano didn’t perfect the format in the 80s? It was only a matter of time before Prime would do something. Now with a total of six drops, players can pick up the first batch of loot with: The Winter Warmer skin and 3 crowns. As far as I’ve understood of Fall Guys, those crowns are what you get for winning, so we’re already in pay for wins territory with your Prime subscription. Currently, the Winter bundle offer ends on the 15th of January.
The fifth drop for Magic Tiles 3 (“Everyone can music!”) once again offers a 1-day VIP pass and five songs from five artists that I don’t understand: “Believer” by Imagine Dragons; “I’m Not That Girl” by The Devil’s Sway feat. Bri Oglu; “If You Were in My Head” by Wellmess feat. Van Psyke; “High & Dry” by Wellmass feat. Red Revision; and “Fix my Head” by Dissidence. I listen to some crap, but at the very least, it is good crap. This offer ends on the 7th of January.
- Players of the mobile game Risk: Global Domination can now pick up the emote pack. This offer is also available until the 7th of January.
- The final Yahtzee with Buddies offer: The Vanity dice giveaway ends on the 6th of January.
- Players of Black Desert Mobile can pick-up the Boss stamps and Tablets (15K) bundle, with the offer ending on the 5th of January.
- Also ending on the 5th is the Queen Maeve kit for World of Tanks.
- Those playing Legends of Runeterra can pick-up an Epic Wildcard, and have until the 6th of January to do so.
Thatcher (No, a different one) has returned alongside Ubisoft waving about the smelly corpse of Tom Clancy in the form of Rainbow Six Siege. Was it worth that to get a small Thatcher joke? Kind of. Though it is true, players of Rainbow Six Siege can once again get drops for operators (such as Thatcher) with their Prime subscription. The current offering of Thatcher’s uniform, helmet, charm, and weapon skin ends on the 11th of January.
Players of the dreadfully free-to-play mobile games CubeSurfer and Aquapark.io can currently get several-days of play ad-free. Though they are the type of games that I’m often told are “time-wasting games” I honestly don’t understand a single bit of why anyone would find value in this offer. It is the first of a few drops of differing number of days ad-free play. This offer ends on the 11th of January.
- Ubisoft insists on Hyper Scape continuing, so players can still pick up the battle pass rewards available since November last year. This offer ends on February 28th.
- Players of Immortals: Fenyx Rising can still pick up the Fenyx Shivering character pack, available until the 3rd of February.
- Those wading through England’s Viking-heavy history in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can still pick-up the Carolingian Dynasty gear pack. Offer ends on the 13th of January.
- The two of you still playing Rocket Arena can currently pick up the Frost Festival skin for Izell (for a short time) and Amphora’s Gold Star skin. The latter is available until the 21st of January.
Those playing either RuneScape or Old School RuneScape will want to pick up their respective offers. If you’re playing Old School RuneScape you can have early access to the Soul Wars, with the offer ending on the 5th of January. For RuneScape players, you can pick up the Yak Track care package and umbral chests, also available until the 5th of January.
Speaking of soul-less wars – shut up, that’s a great transition – EA’s STAR WARS: Squadrons players can still pick up the first of four total drops that go against the publisher’s previous pink position. You can still pick up both the Bold Approach and Vibrant Focus pilot helmets for both the rebel alliance and imperials (I think those are the right groups). This offer ends on the 12th of January.
- Until the 6th of January, players of War of the Vision: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius can pick-up 10 NRG restores.
- Those of you playing Paladins can pick up the fourth of a total of nine drops with the Xeno-buster skin for Ash. This offer is available until the 28th of January.
- The second of a total of twelve Destiny 2 drops, players can now pick up the Hard Light Exotic bundle. This offer will end on the 27th of January.
- If you are playing the magic-focused Battle Royale Spellbreak on the Epic Games Store, you can pick-up the Enigmatic Marauder outfit. Offer ends on the 27th of January.
If you are one of the few playing Watch Dogs: Legion, it is good that you understand what an interesting game can be. You can pick-up the latest Prime bundle now. The Nerdcore + Futurist collection with 24K in ETO offers players two outfits you’d have to be mental to wear and a metric ton of in-game cash, at least more than basic progress can get you anyway. This offer ends on the 18th of February.
The final chance to pick up the Ashley Violet commander and Santa’s treasure trove of tripe in World of Warships is here, finally. The offer ends on the 21st of January and I hope will never come back with its creepy faux-streamer that is overtly stereotypical of a Reddit user’s idea of a woman streamer. In other words, Good riddance.
In the third of a total of eleven drops for Madden NFL 21, players of the Madden Ultimate team portion of the game can pick up the Zero Chill Pack. This pack offers five Zero Chill in-game men that like chasing balls for a living, with an overall of 81+, and a chance (knowing EA, a minor chance) of one player with an overall of 89. This offer ends on the 19th of January.
To the games, and as will be the case for the next two monthly articles, those with a Prime subscription can still pick-up the SNK bundle. It is filled with many arcade and console classics, and you can pick up everything including: The SNK 40th Anniversary Collection, Metal Slug, The King of Fighters, the Samurai Shodown series, and more. This offer ends on the 31st of March.
For those who still haven’t picked up last month’s games, you still have until the 15th of January to do so. Including HyperDot, Wizard of Legend, Sigma Theory: Global Cold War, Turmoil, and Close to the Sun. Along with those available from last month’s monthly drop, you can pick up three further games available with Prime: Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, available until the 8th; Sheltered, available until the 15th; Overcooked, available until the 22nd; and finally, Sword Legacy Omen, available until the 29th of January.
