Announcements never go well in the games industry; it is like a wrestling wedding, there is going to be some kind of shenanigans. From those that include fake pregnancies, a lover showing up late to stop the wedding, or even the date of your game being revealed hours before you planned to unveil that yourself. It always happens, there is no need to get embarrassed. The latest of which is Out of The Blue and Raw Fury’s Call of the Sea, an upcoming puzzle-adventure set in the 1930s.

It was announced back in May, when everyone was up in arms over Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla for having a piece of footage labeled “Gameplay” when it wasn’t. As shocking as it might have been, there were more interesting things going on and being revealed. Those things were only overshadowed by Ubisoft for reasons best known to hype and hysteria. Call of the Sea is an adventure-puzzle game set in the south Pacific. You play as Norah, a woman on the search for her husband who’s gone missing on an expedition. Norah is voiced by Cissy Jones, possibly best known for her roles in some anime, TellTale’s The Walking DeadBatman: Arkham KnightDarksiders, and Half-Life Alyx.

Early this morning, ahead of what publisher Raw Fury seems to be teasing as a reveal of the release date stream, the Microsoft store may have tipped off a few people already. At the time of writing, below the price on the UK store, it has been revealed the game will supposedly release about midnight (UK Time) on the 8th of December. However, the release date section still has the placeholder date of “31/12/2020” on the storefront.

As Raw Fury has been teasing for about a week now, the publisher will be streaming gameplay and possibly making an official announcement of the date. Personally, I can’t wait. Past all the hysteria of Assassin’s Creed and its trailer of hype, and finally getting time to look at Call of the Sea, I know I’ll be hoping for the December 8th release date to be true. Call of the Sea is only available for PC (Steam) and the catalog of currently available Xbox systems: the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S systems.
