It seems we’ve once again found ourselves with some leaked, and yet-to-be-confirmed dates for the beginning and conclusion of the next three major Steam sales. As I’ve just said, and wish to strongly emphasize, these dates are by no means set in stone and could just be conjecture. However, if this information is proven correct, those of us who feel our Steam libraries could use a bit more bolstering will have some time to prepare our wallets in advance of the coming sales. Let’s get to the details, shall we?

This information originates in its entirety from the folks at Steam Database, or SteamDB, for short. You might recall that they’ve been almost eerily spot-on when leaking dates for past sales, such as this year’s Steam Summer Sale, for example. Having said that, this source claims that the next prominent Steam sale on the horizon is, of course, the Halloween sale. This one is fairly short-lived, but it definitely has the potential to be worth your while if there are any games you’ve got your eye on over the next few days.

According to their data, this sale will supposedly begin at 10am Pacific time on Thursday, October 29th, 2020. Assuming this is the case, the Halloween sale will conclude at that same hour on Monday, November 2nd. Considering the precedents that have been set by previous Halloween sales on Steam, expect a heavy emphasis on horror and horror-themed games, for obvious reasons. Despite that, however, it may behoove you to have a look at your Steam wish list and do some digging beyond that to see if any titles you want which don’t fall into the “horror” genre might still be discounted.

Moving on to a longer-lasting sale, following the Halloween sale is this year’s Steam Autumn Sale. If this same source is proven right once again, the Autumn Sale will begin at 10am Pacific time on Wednesday, November 25th, 2020. It will then last until Tuesday, December 1st, again concluding at 10am PT. Autumn Sales are typically more general in my experience. That is to say, Steam doesn’t usually heavily promote one specific genre of games as it might do with horror titles during the aforementioned Halloween Sale.

Finally, there comes Steam’s last hurrah for the year in the form of this year’s Winter Sale. I’m afraid our collective wallets may not have very much time to recover from the Autumn Sale when this one starts. That’s because, according to SteamDB, 2020’s Steam Winter Sale will kick off exactly three weeks after the Autumn Sale concludes. That is, the Winter Sale will supposedly begin on Tuesday, December 22nd, and run all the way through to Tuesday, January 5th, 2021.

As you might know, if you’re a recurring reader of ours, I’ve made something of a tradition of publishing roundups of my personal game recommendations during each year’s Summer and Winter sales. I can’t promise I’ll do the same for the Halloween or Autumn sales this year due to how relatively short these sales will reportedly be. However, I’ll definitely have an article like that published sometime during the Winter Sale later this year. Keep an eye out for that if you’re interested to see what I might suggest this time around!

David Sanders is, at his core, a man who's just trying to get through his game backlog before the heat death of the universe, and yet can't seem to stop adding to said game backlog. He greatly enjoys many different varieties of games, particularly several notable RPGs and turn-based strategy titles. When he's not helping to build or plan computers for friends, he can usually be found gaming on his personal machine or listening to an audiobook to unwind.
