Dave Bautista as Marcus Fenix is Wicked

In the next-gen New Game+ version of Gears of War 5, some cool changes are coming. Firstly, you can get some extra skins for the game that help diversify the characters and their attire. Plus, you can look forward to some DLC for the story mode that’s coming sometime later this year. Coolest of all, however, is playing the entire campaign with a big change thanks to a huge name in sports entertainment and film.

Dave Bautista long spoke about how much he loved the Gears of War series. So when 5 was in development, The Coalition, who develops the game, decided to include him as a multiplayer character. It appears that fan response went over quite well because now Bautista is getting a bigger role in the new version of the game. On top of graphical improvements and other updates, Gears of War 5 will feel bigger and better on Xbox Series X and S.

Take advantage of the new looks by revisiting the campaign mode with Bautista starring as Marcus Fenix. It’s not just a visual update either. As you can see from the video below, Dave Bautista came in to do voiceover work and everything. It’s a fun little update to an otherwise underrated game. Thanks to Game Pass, subscribers can play the entire series on their next-gen consoles. I think many remember the first few well but might have skipped the last few entries.

Sure, the first three games are a nearly perfect trilogy. Much like Microsoft’s other big franchise, Halo, fans fell off after the series expanded into longer, more convoluted storylines. I still think the story in Gears is stronger than Halo, so please consider giving it a try! Better yet, cast Bautista into the mix for some extra firepower.
