I’m not going to lie, I love Tony Hawk’s Pro Skate 1 + 2, which released just over a month ago. It would be wrong for me to suggest I haven’t at least thought of saying it is my game of the year. I’ve played far too much of it for my own good already. Yet, I’ve not touched the multiplayer one bit, as I have an aversion to giving Microsoft or Sony money for their subscription services for something I wouldn’t use. That said, I’ve had friends complain about the multiplayer, and they’ve done so for good reason upon release. The multiplayer was quite crappy for a new release.

You could play in multiplayer with friends, though you would have to join with a collection of random people too. It was a minor inconvenience, but you would be playing on a revolving door of levels and game modes, none of which included free skate or player-created parks. Now, a month on, Vicarious Visions has updated the remake for multiplayer, finally allowing for a personal party group.

In the tweet denoting the latest update, the studio behind the remake noted what you can now do with the private party feature. Now you can take your friends around that hellscape you created that’s meant to be a THPS 3 level, with the highly requested feature. Along with the added multiplayer feature, the update also fixes several issues with gaps and challenges. Though the studio hasn’t officially released patch-notes for the update, the THPS community over on Reddit does have some notes on what has been updated.
