Easily one of the most interesting indie games I’ve played this year is Mars Horizon; don’t get too excited, it is a short very list. Mars Horizon is a business management simulation with quite a different ethos behind it. When you think of business management simulation, you probably think of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3Theme Hospital and its successor, or Prison Architect. They are all great games, but none of them are trying to teach you anything. Unless you count them teaching you how to swear when someone breaks their neck on the “Terror-Coaster 3000,” vomits on the V.I.P’s new shoes, or someone starts a riot. One of the main goals of Mars Horizon is to teach or at least pique your interest in the granular of space history.

It was only the other week that I played a bit of Mars Horizon for a preview, and now it will release on November the 17th this year. Blasting off to Mercury and Venus next month, you’ll soon be able to yell about the Russians beating you to space. You’ll also get to yell about the Chinese crash-landing on Venus, the Americans sending up a dog first, or the E.S.A. being space accountants and just studying everything. Though it is not as deep on exploration and rocketry-building, it does prove to be a fun experience running a space agency; even if you ironically run it into the ground so hard that you could become a deep-sea exploration society instead.

Mars Horizon will be blasting off into the upper atmosphere and beyond on November the 17th. Releasing on Steam, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch simultaneously on the 17th. Currently there is no word from Auroch Digital or The Irregular Corporation of the price on release. To keep up to date with the Mars Horizon, Auroch Digital has more on their site. Expect to see a full review of Mars Horizon in the coming weeks around the game’s full release.
