Yes, sometimes, I wish all of the news would take a rest as well. Monday, I wrote about constructing bridges so flimsy they could be a politician’s promise, while David spoke about modding occult Nazis to smile more and wear high heels and a push-up bra to look prettier. Tuesday, Mike talked about Microsoft buying an indie studio no one has heard of, and David wrote of a convention where you won’t smell someone’s crusty three-day-old t-shirt. Additionally, Alexx spoke of another indie game coming to the Switch, a dime a dozen they are. Wednesday, Taylor talked about companies not wanting money, and I went on to talk about Microsoft throwing some at other indie studios. Thursday, there was news that Konami might be remaking a game you may have heard of.

This week it is a bit of a break on the Epic Games Store front, oddly enough. I don’t think I’ll get that next week given it is a small indie game that’s on the docket so far. I assume out of the blue, the entire Dark Souls trilogy will drop as a “surprise” (read: To my mortification). Though, I can only hope what I’ve been beating myself with until the early hours of the morning this past week will be all that is included. Hell, this is a week of something I’ll be beating myself with long into the night, as RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is one of the very few tycoon games of the mid-2000s that turned out to be great.

The problem is how redundant this release really is. The entire game was already on Steam (though it was delisted in 2018), and I’m not saying anything of this faux-Steam Vs. Epic battle people have in their heads. I’m pointing out that if you wanted it, you could have already had it. “Oh, but this is the complete edition, which is a remaster,” as I assume some will argue. Yes, it is a remaster/port if you are playing on the likes of the Nintendo Switch. Yet for PC, it is little more than a .ini file change, which you could have done yourself with a bit of know-how. I’m not complaining. What I’m doing is talking about the game, but without having to talk about the gameplay of one of the best games of all time.

You see, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 is one of those games that you have to play. It is one of the building blocks of tycoon/management games of the modern-day, and without it, we wouldn’t have Planet Coaster or Planet Zoo, both made by Frontier, which made RollerCoaster Tycoon 3. The reason I’m railing against the “YAY it is the remaster or whatever you’d call this one” is that it is the bare minimum. The bare minimum here is still better than any attempt to “remaster” Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy), as you can’t master pretentious liquid sewage anyway. However, something could have been done to tighten it up a little.

This week you can pick up RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition for free until the 1st of October. On the 1st, you’ll be able to pick up Pikuniku, a puzzle platformer published by Devolver Digital that isn’t just gore and grotesque glimpses of grim liquid genealogy. I assume that given America enjoys exporting tripe like Halloween and The Hangover movies, we are set for a month of horror. As of today, I’ll be taking a month’s Sabbatical from doing these articles while playing Rocket League.
