I don’t know about you, dear reader, but it seems to me like Valve hasn’t really done all that much lately aside from have a few notable Steam sales. In Valve’s defense, their CEO Gabe Newell has been a self-described “COVID refugee” in New Zealand for several months now. Perhaps that has something to do with their apparent lack of activity. It would seem that Valve has been keeping a watchful eye on what the creators among the fan bases of its games are up to, though, as evidenced by the massive update to Left 4 Dead 2 that was recently announced.

The update in question, officially entitled Left 4 Dead 2: The Last Stand, was revealed to be in production sometime this past August. Back then its creators (understandably) didn’t really have much to share about what the update would actually contain. Thankfully, that has since changed. Not only was the update’s scheduled release date of September 24th, 2020, stated in an official trailer that went up on YouTube yesterday; this trailer also gave zombie-killers the world over a much more in-depth look at what constitutes The Last Stand.

PC Gamer has reported that this entirely community-driven update will contain such aspects as its own fleshed out multiplayer campaign, thirty new achievements for players to work toward earning, twenty-six new survival maps, and a lot more. Personally, I’m interested to see what the update’s creators mean when they say they’ve restored unused voice lines for the cast of Left 4 Dead 2. I previously had no idea any voiced dialogue had been cut from the game.

Left 4 Dead 2: The Last Stand will be a free update given automatically to all players who own the game on Steam. If you’re interested in checking out that thorough announcement trailer I mentioned earlier, you can do so below. For my part, I’d like to conclude this report with a bit of a shameless plug. You see, dear reader, we’re planning something special over on our YouTube channel throughout the entire month of October. I don’t want to give too much away just yet, but Left 4 Dead 2 will serve as a significant part of those festivities. If you’re so inclined, why not check out our channel and perhaps even subscribe so you’ll know when the event begins?

David Sanders is, at his core, a man who's just trying to get through his game backlog before the heat death of the universe, and yet can't seem to stop adding to said game backlog. He greatly enjoys many different varieties of games, particularly several notable RPGs and turn-based strategy titles. When he's not helping to build or plan computers for friends, he can usually be found gaming on his personal machine or listening to an audiobook to unwind.
