Five Things We Want from a Super Nintendo Switch

The new Nintendo Switch model leaks are everywhere. Sometime in 2021, we’re likely going to see a newer version of Nintendo’s popular home/handheld hybrid console. That’s good news for people wanting some major upgrades to the current console. A lot of people don’t really see the need, however. So what would make a Super Nintendo Switch worth buying? Here are five ideas that could make it worth our while.

Higher Resolution Screen

The Nintendo Switch is meant to be played as a handheld just as much as a home console. That said, the screen on the current Switch could use a major upgrade. If we got a retina display a la Apple tech or something a bit more HD, that could be a game-changer. Plus, another change to the screen could be huge as well.

Full View Display

Right now, there’s a good few centimeters of a border around the handheld screen of the Switch. If they make this full-view, meaning the screen is the entire body of the console, that could be huge.

Better Joy-Cons

We don’t need a new feature for better Joy-Cons. Between HD rumble and the portability of these tiny controllers, I think most people are happy with them in theory. The problem is simple: drifting. The analog sticks are flawed and yet, Nintendo hasn’t put out a huge fix for them. A new console could be a good place to unveil them, then offer as a separate purchase for those who don’t upgrade.

More Power – But Still Realistic for Nintendo

If we get a Super Nintendo Switch, it will not be a PS5/Xbox Series X competitor. The real plus could be an upgrade to 4K capabilities. Even a boost in the native resolution of games played on the console would be huge. Nintendo fans don’t need photorealistic graphics, but that’s not to say an upgrade wouldn’t be loved by all.

Launch at $300, and Boost Other Models Down

My ideal Super Nintendo Switch launch would also include some creative pricing for Nintendo. If we saw the Super Nintendo Switch sell for $300, the OG Switch for $250, and the Switch Lite for $175, people would flock to the console. This way, people short on cash can get a version of the console but others can still upgrade for a relatively reasonable price.
