A lot of game developers are getting ready for next-gen era content. A huge part of game development for a new console generation involves getting a grip on what the new console offers in terms of power and performance. A lot of developers who tend to push through this uncertainty and learning curve put out games that sometimes receive negative feedback. It seems as if the Pro Evolution Soccer team is looking to avoid this by offering their next game as DLC.
The move to push PES 2021 as DLC for PES 2020 is a welcome move in my eyes. Sports games change very little year to year and many don’t make changes that warrant a $60 price tag. Not to mention NBA 2K21, another sports title in a popular series, is already indicating next-gen prices of $70. That furthers the call that there are cost issues for consumers ahead if they wish to get the newest sports games. PES is wildly popular, but a little less played than the FIFA series from EA. This move might sway people over instead.
The goal for the PES dev team is to focus on PES 2022 which would begin development sometime mid-next year. If you don’t own the game, then PES will be looking to celebrate its audience and 25 years of games with a fun incentive product, per their statement.
“This year also marks a quarter of a century since the very first title was released. To commemorate this important milestone, and more importantly, to show our gratitude to you, our loyal fans, we are pleased to announce that this year’s PES will launch at an affordable anniversary price and will also come with several bonuses.” – PES Team
