Every month, and now every week, I do these articles on the Twitch Prime “Loot,” and I slightly hate myself more every time. With the news that the UK government will be looking into regulating loot boxes; we received an email about this and the stats on these free-to-play games that Twitch promotes in Twitch Prime. I may have already hated their insipid uses of gambling mechanics, yet I never thought to look up their age ratings and the price that these items might be worth in-game. Expect an angry editorial on this soon. In the meantime, let’s talk about the additions to Twitch Prime for June.
Speaking of useless mobile phone guff, King of Avalon is the newest addition of mobile games getting “loot” featured on Twitch Prime. The first of these bi-weekly packs is a double-bill of almost the same rubbish. You’ll recieve 200 Gold, one hundred 5-minute speed ups with twenty 60-minute equivalents, 200 lots of one thousand food along with the same in wood (200,000 each), ten 24-hour boosts on farms and sawmills, three 24-hour boosts on gathering, and two account boosts of 7-day VIP access with 10 lots of 100 VIP points. Along with this, for this week’s bundle, you get 7-day usage of “forest and flame march,” whatever that is. What does this mean? You can use Twitch Prime and get this guff, or pay up to $149.99 (per item) for this nonsense.
Another loot box-style bout of loot updated this week comes from World of Tanks. Don’t worry, as has been the case for about a year now, you can still get the captured King Tiger tank. This June you can get the newest care package. Care package June (though it should be Juliet), comes with 1-day of a premium boost to your account, decals, XP boosts, premium consumables, new missions, and tank rentals. You can pick up Care Package June until July the 9th.
Also updating this past week was Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, offering five of the SSR Treasure chests. I think the real sin here is the name being more elongated than a sentence in a JRPG, and possibly the idea that someone would pay nearly $80 for a single item.
If you like playing Scrabble, but hate the idea of dislodging a K from someone’s eye, you’ve been playing Words With Friends 2. Today at 7:25 PM (ET)/ 4:25 PM (PT) there is a live show within the mobile phone game with Garth Brooks, and a wordsmith he is not. With this comes the latest surprise mystery box, which will feature an “official Garth Brooks tile,” I didn’t know he had claim over a couple of letters but OK. This offer ends on the 22nd of June.
Next up we have to talk about everything leaving Twitch Prime this week before we get to the rather disappointing game. The first deal that is leaving is Warframe‘s starter pack, a collection of more guff to get you up to speed with everyone else playing. You’ll want to pick up the Warframe starter pack before Thursday the 18th of June before it leaves, and while you’re at it, pick up the Avia Prime armor set that is available until the 30th.
Those playing Apex Legends can still pick up Loba’s Game Master skin from Season 5. You’ll want to do so before Thursday; When she is replaced with the Tribal Instinct skin for Gibraltar. Gibraltar’s skin is available from the 16th of June, though you have two days of a crossover period to still pickup Loba’s skin.
Also changing on Tuesday the 16th is RuneScape‘s membership offer. Currently, you can pick up 14-days of both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape with your Prime membership.
The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang “loot,” is also changing, offering an Amazon Prime chest and hero-and-skin trial card. Until Tuesday the 16th, you can pick up the Gatotkaca and Uranus 7-day trials, with the sentinel and video game dominator 7-day trial skins respectively. Next, it is Ruby and Johnson.
Mafia City will also be dropping its current bundle only to have the same bundle return immediately. Yes, on Friday the 19th of June you can pick up: 50 gold, 5 lots of ten thousand cargo and ten thousand cash (500,000 each), along with two 5-minute building and training speed-ups. This is a game that you can pay up to $100 per item, or do as a sane person does and ignore this racket.
Finally, for those playing EA’s FIFA 20, you can pick up the fourth pack in the Twitch Prime Packs. Currently, it offers one “loan Team of the Season player” for 7-games, four gold rare players, and the pick of one of four players with an overall of 82 or better. I don’t understand this ultimate team nonsense, I dropped out of FIFA scene when I was 12.
Now, before I get to the game, I want to highlight something I said last week. I mentioned that Twitch Prime had a chance to do something with the “Free Games With Prime” weekly games, alternating between supporting Black Lives Matter and Pride Month. Last week it was Pride focused, as we got a gay dating sim with the chance to date a trans man. Unsurprisingly, we’ve reverted to games to keep the sprogs happy during summer break and/or lockdown. While that’s important for parents, it is also a little disappointing not to have strong showing that you’re supportive of Pride or Black Lives Matter, then do nothing more after you’ve done it once.
Nonetheless, PictoQuest: The Cursed Grids is a light RPG puzzle game that is child’s first Picross game. Again I’ll say it, this isn’t an outright awful thing, however, for a game that you would want to play on a bus on a Switch going to work, or in my case sitting on the toilet, I don’t get it. Assuming it is available for this game, buy the game on Steam and use remote play to play PictoQuest on the toilet. Or do the more conventional and surefire thing, play it on the Switch while”taking a poo” or just having me-time.
