It’s tough finding a Nintendo Switch right now. There are plenty of places selling the console online but for hundreds of dollars more than the MSRP. That’s because console production is low due to the Coronavirus. The pandemic shut down factories across the world, leading to fewer consoles on shelves. So, what are you supposed to do if you can’t track one down? Usually, the next step is checking stores in person but a lot of people are trying to stay home as much as possible due to COVID-19. So, here are three tips for finding a Switch during this shortage.
Check In-Store Pickup
So, you might not want to go out and shop at Target or Walmart, but you can still check your local store’s inventory. Most store inventories can update in real-time to help online shoppers see exactly what they have available. Use this to your advantage. With a ton of stores offering curbside pickup options, you might not even have to leave your car. Yes, you are competing with in-store shoppers, but there are far fewer people walking around now. You might find one this way!
Check Your Local Indie Game Shop
There are several great local stores near you that you might not even know about. Some deal primarily in retro games and used titles but they usually offer new games and consoles as well. You might skip over them for better deals elsewhere but you never know. Right now might be the best time to get to know your local indie game seller.
Set Up Store Alerts
If you can’t find one for in-store pickup, online, or at your indie store, consider setting up alerts. Amazon and other websites can offer you a great selection of alert options including email and even text messaging. While it’s not ideal because others can beat you to the latest additions to inventory, it’s better than nothing. Anything to avoid the scalpers should be considered a good option!
