It was well-known that WB Montreal was busy on some DC games a few years back. We heard rumors of a Superman game around 2018. Before that, a Suicide Squad game intended to hit shelves around the time that fans would be checking out the movie. So, what ended up happening? Well, as a lot of games, unfortunately, experience, things didn’t work out and died before development. Still, during this early stage, art is usually a key element in deciding what tone to take. We now have two pieces of concept art for the Superman and Suicide Squad games to appease our speculative minds.

It’s not as if concept art is how the end of a game ends up looking. Still, the Harley Quinn image above and the featured image of Superman both look great. I think with any luck of these games matching the quality of the Batman Arkham series, things could have been highly satisfying. There’s still a chance some sort of game gets developed by WB Montreal. There are rumors that Rocksteady might be working on another DC hero game too. Both developers worked on the Arkham games.

The key thing to remember here is that in no way does this determine how the games would actually turn out. In reality, art can usually outperform an actual game’s playability. Plenty of great games look just fine, and some bad games look really good. There are a lot of variables at play in these development stages. Still, it’s hard to downplay how great that Superman art looks.

There’s no denying the influence of the Arkham series, so it’s no surprise fans are ready for more in that universe. If that ends up being more Batman games, I think people will be fine with it. Exploring the DC Universe tends to be the more favorable road to take. Think of all the great combat in the Batman Arkham series and put someone like the Justice League in the mix? Yes, please.
