Have you ever shouted, “Not you, the other one!” Yeah, me neither. Especially when it comes to the Saints Row series of games and the one that everyone loves to death, so much we willed a better PC port into existence. Now we’re getting a remaster of the game following. In fact, we had a different article planned as Eurogamer spoke of the ESRB leak over the weekend, revealing that this was coming.
Some may be thinking that the Nintendo Switch port has already released; Yes, though this is a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC remaster. Revealed yesterday in a press release, Deep Silver announced Saints Row: The Third Remastered for the 22nd of May this year. The remaster is getting a full face-lift, like that rotund blue alien with a purple weave you once had, with a full re-texturing, re-design, and remodeling of guns, the city, and vehicles. With a reported total of 4,000 assets being completely reworked by co-developer Sperasoft, the 600-person team is bringing everyone from visual effects to revamped lighting.
Along with a complete revamping of lighting, effects, and enhanced graphics nine-years on. The remaster is also bringing all the expansion mission packs and 30 pieces of DLC to the game. Bringing all sorts of madness and chaos to the world of Steelport for players of the original or first-time players, either dressing like a 1980s Japanese gameshow mascot or stripping down to until your Takeshi Kitano is flapping about in the wind and terrorizing citizens.
The game will be published by Deep Silver, a subdivision of Koch Media, now owned by THQ Nordic. As was stated by when THQ Nordic bought out Koch Media (among others), Deep Silver and Volition were already working on the next main game in the series as of August last year. One might take this remaster as a good sign that something is yet to come in the series. Personally, I can’t wait to see how this remaster matches up with the original.
