Johnny Franck’s musical efforts, under the name Bilmuri, are as highly frequent as they are in quality. His last release, Rich Sips, which was only released a handful of months ago, featured Tilian Pearson of Dance Gavin Dance, as well as ex-bandmate from Attack Attack! Caleb Shomo, who now fronts Beartooth. It appears as though Johnny loves having company, so his next release, Muri and Friends, is packed full of guest vocalists.

Here’s who gets the vocal spotlight for the covers in Muri and Friends: Tilian returning for Halsey’s “Graveyard,” Lauren Babic of Red Handed Denial/CrazyEightyEight performing “Youngblood” by 5 Seconds to Summer, Lauv’s “F*** I’m Lonely” with Johnny joined by Rory Rodriguez of Dayseeker, “Thnks Fr Th Mmrs” with Jonathan Young, “Good Things Fall Apart” from ILLENIUM tackled by No Dice, Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” with Surf Team, and Billie Eilish’s “Everything I Wanted” featuring Whale Bones.

This is an unreal gathering from a who’s who of vocalists. Johnny is so welcoming that he was able to secure serious star power for Muri and Friends. Dance Gavin Dance is my favorite band of all time, and Dayseeker’s Sleeptalk is my album-of-the-year for 2019, so I am particularly excited to hear those two tracks. However, I’m equally invested in discovering who the vocalists/bands I didn’t previously know about are.

Johnny has pumped out at least two releases a year since 2016. Where most bands usually have a prolonged album cycle that follows extensive touring, Johnny has only recently begun to tour the U.S., so he has had plenty of time in the studio to keep creating music. His know-how is impressive after spending more than a decade in the scene, and I’m stoked to see how he interprets these songs and implements his guest vocalists. Muri and Friends is set to release late next week, according to Johnny!
