I am a sucker for music that strays from the norm. Artists love to experiment and try new things, and Shrezzers has done so by blending their eclectic post-hardcore sound with the smooth tones of a saxophone in most of their tracks. It never feels shoehorned in, either, not slowing down the fast-paced breakdowns and shredding riffs in the verses. Also unique from the band is the drummer also being the unclean vocalist.
Recently, the Russian band embarked on a tour that spanned dates in Japan. It is evident that they have international appeal, with a sound catchy enough to attract listeners from all points of the world. As seen in the “Noodles” video, the venues were packed full for the act. It’s not every day you get to see a metal band perform with a saxophonist, and the Japanese fans were gracious of them to visit with great fan interaction on display.
Shrezzers’ debut album, Relationships, is an unbelievable first effort for the relatively-fresh band on the scene. So many genres are touched, with elements of rap, jazz, R&B, and more in the varied tracks. throughout the 13-track album. Not present on the album is “Noodles”, even though it maintains the high quality from Relationships. It was likely a b-side, but when a band never has a bad moment, alternate tracks are more than welcome.
“Noodles” shows the band off with cuts of them posing for tour photos, talking with fans jovially, and playing their instruments on the streets of Japan. The film grain is a nice touch, adding a nostalgic feeling to the visuals. The environments of Japan serve as a gorgeous backdrop, as well. Any other country’s city wouldn’t have done the video justice. “Noodles” shows that the band is having a great time coming off their first release, and has a very bright future ahead of them!
