Persona 5 is a game beloved by many, so it would make sense that a lot of fans or prospective fans of the series would want it to be on other consoles; especially the Nintendo Switch. So far, though, nothing has changed in regards to that. We still don’t have any news of Persona 5 on the Switch, and we might not for a long time. Despite this, Atlus says fans shouldn’t give up hope.
In an interview with IGN during a Persona 5 preview event, Atlus Communications Manager Ari Advincula was asked on the prospective port for the game and claimed she had no new announcements to share. She, however, ensured fans Atlus is listening and are taking feedback very seriously.
“You want what you want,” Advincula explained, “I am a strong believer in ‘never ever give up on hope.’ And if you don’t let us know it, we’re never going to be able to make it.” She notes, “it’s very important to voice your opinion” and to “keep telling us what you want.” Despite this, she also stated that she’s far from the decision-maker and does not control what happens.
After Joker’s appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with rumors being spread last year of a port with a fake Best Buy listing; fans had hoped that a Switch port would be incoming. Switch fans instead will be getting Persona 5 Scramble, an entirely new game with the same characters and world, acting as a direct sequel to the main game. It isn’t exactly what fans had hoped for, but it’s something.
Atlus seems to be taking a lot of feedback, especially lately, and seeing as fans highly want it, it isn’t impossible to get a switch port sometime in the future. For now, fans will still have something to look forward to as Persona 5 Royal is on the horizon; bringing lots more content than the original. It promises to be a big hit with fans, and will be coming to PS4 on March 31st.
