Outriders, Square Enix and developer People Can Fly’s new mysterious game was first announced at E3 2019. The game has finally seen some recent news by way of a gameplay reveal trailer. The title was previously announced for current-gen consoles PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One by the end of the year, but has now been confirmed to also be coming to next-gen consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, making it one of the launch titles for next gen consoles.
For those unaware, Outriders is a multiplayer drop-in drop-out co-op shooter with up to 3 players, combining RPG elements with its shooting. Players can make their outrider and customize them; however they choose. The game is set to release sometime September 2020 on PC and both current and next-gen consoles.
The new trailer, which released this past Tuesday (February 11th), revealed more about the game’s story and lore. The world tells a tale of humanity after fleeing from a dying ruined Earth. Survivors take refuge in a new planet named Enoch, which is home to a variety of powerful creatures that grant its human inhabitants powers of their own. These powers include the ability to burn, freeze, and encase themselves in a rocky protective armor. The trailer’s description states:
“With rich storytelling spanning a diverse world, you’ll leave. behind the slums and shantytowns of the First City and traverse forests, mountains and desert in the pursuit of a mysterious signal,”
Square Enix and People Can Fly plan to reveal more about Outriders today, Thursday, Feb 13th, at 3PM PT, hosting a Livestream on YouTube, Twitch and Twitter.
