It seems Capcom is switching things up for the Resident Evil 3 Remake. In the latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine, Capcom has stated that the remake will be altered in several ways. The most notable of these changes regards the role of Carlos Oliveira having a bigger part to play in the remake.

Carlos is, of course, an original member of the S.T.A.R.S team and first appeared in Resident Evil 3 alongside Jill Valentine with albeit a smaller role. Capcom also stated he won’t be the only character from the original game getting a bigger role.

These changes shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, as the Resident Evil 2 Remake similarly altered a few things from the original, such as fleshing out some characters and adding a few original details to the story. Speaking of which, it’s been noted that the Remake will not have multiple endings like the original did, and will instead be more of a linear experience.

Aside from the narrative changes, Capcom says the nemesis AI will be more advanced. Though It will still based off Mr. X’s AI from the Resident Evil 2 Remake, Nemesis will be more free to move about, promising a much more intense pursuit.

Other changes include the removal of the classic arcade-style bonus mode, Mercenaries and will most likely be replaced by the new Resident Evil Resistance online mode. Sound design will also be improved. The sound will reflect more on the environment, and will help in certain situations, like being able to tell where a zombie is by the sound it makes.

These are some of the changes revealed by Capcom so far. Though it seems Capcom could be going towards a different direction than some fans anticipated. So far, we’re unsure if these changes will be a good thing or not but the Resident Evil 3 Remake is sure to be interesting.
