The long-awaited Theme Hospital successor by developers of the original is finally coming to the console of your choosing. No, really, they mean it this timeTwo Point Hospital is coming to Microsoft’s Xbox One, Sony’s PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch this coming February 25th, 2020. To say I’m excited would be an understatement, as no matter my love for its predecessor, some things need a bit of a reworking. It has been almost twenty-four years, which reminds me I’m closer to becoming one of those handymen than I once was.

The aesthetically inviting and cartoony visuals of the trailers just make it all that more enticing by the minute. Though on consoles there is one thing I’m personally worried about, as most building mechanics on consoles that require controllers aren’t always the most intuitive. I hate to say it, though it is one of the main gripes I had with Frostpunk, Tropico 6, and Tropico 5 a few years ago. “Two Point Studios have rebuilt the PC control scheme for console gaming which guarantees smooth play for both on the go and on the couch gaming,” says the press release on the announcement of the console port’s release. I for one hope they are right.

As was declared when this port was first announced back in July, all three ports will come with two expansions for the game. The Bigfoot and the Pebberley Island expansions being the two included, and one would assume the Close Encounters DLC will also be available to purchase soon after release. Though speaking of purchases, the pre-orders are now open for both Microsoft’s Xbox One and Sony’s PlayStation 4, however, the pre-purchases for the Nintendo Switch are not yet available.
