There’s no logical way to set this story up. Snoop Dogg, historic rapper and public figure, is now in NHL 20.
The charismatic thing about Snoop Dogg is his signature brand of speaking and interacting with others. For someone who at one point in his life was a gangster, he’s incredibly different from his younger years. He’s a father now, and even has a son tearing up the fashion world now. At one point, he was working on a show with Martha Stewart. His ability to make friends with anyone has helped him have a long and healthy career. Plus, he’s an incredible musician.
Aside from the Snoop Lion phase of his career, where he started making reggae music, he has few missteps. His early success on songs like “Gin N Juice” and “Ride 4 Me” established him as a prominent mafioso rapper. He loved talking about the streets and running his block. Now, he’s in the booth calling NHL 20 games. Don’t think about why. Just be happy it’s happening.
What’s the point of putting Snoop Dogg in a game? Well, NBA 2K games feature guests announcers regularly now. Hearing a celebrity or former player in the booth during a game makes it feel much more authentic. There are always visitors in the booth at sports events. It’s funny to have it happen seemingly out of nowhere though. EA didn’t necessarily market this addition to their game. It’s a fun little surprise that makes me happy for NHL 20 fans. The game is great, just slowly dwindling in players.
Are you a regular player of NHL 20? Let me know if you plan on seeking out Snoop Dogg in your next game. It’s hilarious thinking about the shock some had who didn’t know this was happening. You’re playing NHL 20, then whoa, there’s Snoop Dogg! Priceless.
