The Fever 333 is a band that’s seen a meteoric rise in fame since their inception in 2017, and have only furthered their success this past weekend. They have released their new single “Vandals”, and vocalist Jason Butler features on the new The Used song, “Blow Me”. Exposing Jason to the new audience of these emo supergiants is great exposure for Fever, which is further benefited by having a fresh single for curious listeners to experience, so they can absorb how the band currently sounds.

With two albums released already, The Fever 333 have made bold statements through their music. This is further supplemented by their chaotic stage presence that they have been fortunate enough to release in their “demonstrations” for humongous tour bills, such as supporting bands like Alice in Chains, A Day to Remember, Bring Me the Horizon, and playing festivals like Download and Sonic Temple. The band is a supergroup, comprised of the outspoken Jason Butler of letlive., the wild ex-Chariot guitarist Stephen Harrison, and the unbelievably-talented Night Verses drummer Aric Improta. Seeing some of my favorite musicians of the decade come together is a personal dream come true.

“Blow Me” showcases the typical brashness of The Used, but Jason’s part is a standout. Unleashing a torrent of unclean vocals makes the ending breakdowns uncharacteristically-brutal for The Used, delving into almost metalcore territory. Fever’s “Vandal” is a hip-hop-infused track, with infectious beats and more call-outs to capitalism from Jason. Throughout the choruses, Aric uses a roll of his drumsticks on an environment that isn’t his snare drum to give a nervous feel to the track. The guitar work on the track is fairly nonexistent, which is disappointing, but such is expected from a song of this nature. With this style, melody takes a backseat, as the beats/backdrop provide enough for the other two members to shine. Nevertheless, The Fever 333 are exiting 2019 in the spotlight, and deservedly-so, with two great pieces of music.
