I am a very weird man. As evident by that review of BABYMETAL’s METAL GALAXY, that business of enjoying the Women’s World Cup this year, and the whole Doctor Who fandom I have. I’ve loved the series since I was a young one, and I’m not talking about the time I hung out with a punk, a green party voter, a stoner, and my uncle. As I said in the last article, it alongside Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation showed you should be accepted for who you are; weird alien or just a human that’s hurting. I love it.

The last series was one of the strangest, assumed to be of concern when Chris Chibnall was heading the first female lead series, yet I loved it. One of the best episodes of the series, and one of the best of the entire fifty-plus-year history of the show; was even written (co-written!) by the same man that wrote the Torchwood episode Cyberwoman. It feels weird to be positive about Chibnall’s work when his last “good episode” was The Power of Three, a great mystery with all of Chibnall’s tropes, only let down by his naff ending.

In the new trailer (seen above), after a whole week of speculation on the release date of series 12, we have a date. The new series will begin on January 1st, 2020, as part of Jodie Whittaker’s first two-parter as the eponymous Doctor. However, this does not mean that we’re moving away from the Sunday air date again, as the second part is also confirmed for January 5th. Yes, to say I am excited would be an understatement, which still feels off when Chris is in charge of the entire series. Now, can December get a shift on?
