CROSSNIQ+ is a fast-paced puzzle game that released a while ago that’s bathed in a Y2K aesthetic. Now, on the upcoming Black Friday weekend, people can pick up limited time merchandise to embrace CROSSNIQ+‘s aesthetic in their every day life.

Typically, Black Friday sales offer a whole lot of pre-existing stuff for far cheaper prices. In a visionary move, CROSSNIQ+ is having an “anti-sale.” Instead of a simple discount on the game, the developer will be selling new things during the Black Friday weekend. There’s going to be shirts with designs showing off character icons and the game board. There’s going to be a bundle where you can pick up the game along with the soundtrack, a nice charm, a cleaning cloth, etc. There’s a whole different cyber-themed bundle with cool Bluetooth speakers, an ID card with digital goodies on it, some sweet shades and a Dreamcast VMU.

Wait, huh? What’s a Dreamcast VMU?

So, the Dreamcast VMU is primarily a memory card for the Dreamcast, but it is also a small handheld device with its own tiny screen. The VMU could be slotted into the Dreamcast controller to display extra information without taking away from the action, much like the second screen on the Nintendo DS. However, with some batteries, it can play its own minigames independently from the console. Most notably, the Dreamcast version of the Sonic Adventure games had extensive minigames for raising Chaos outside of the main game, which is a feature that’s obviously absent in later re-releases.

CROSSNIQ+ is taking the next step in embodying the Y2K aesthetic through reintroducing this small piece of pre-2000 gaming to the world. This new CROSSNIQ+ themed VMU promises to bring its own set of minigames and virtual pets into the 21st century while still being compatible with the Dreamcast. Even if you’ve never played CROSSNIQ+, if you’re a retro gamer, this is something to look for.

Although, you might as well pick up the game anyway. Since the game was launched, CROSSNIQ+ updated its Versus Mode to make multiplayer more engaging. Why stop at getting shirts with tasteful tiles on them when you can match tasteful tiles against the internet?

The official Twitter has been showing stuff off, though it’s not formally on the website yet. Keep an eye on the official site when Black Friday rolls around if you want to pick stuff up.
