Streaming is a hell of a task, I’ve done it from time to time, though it is never easy. Sometimes when streaming console games, the hardware isn’t on your side, or sometimes when streaming PC games, your anti-virus will purposefully demand CPU it shouldn’t be asking for. My point is, streaming isn’t easy for either YouTube or Twitch, and there’s no quick fix to be the greatest. That said, some software is easier to handle than others.
Twitch are the ones standing at the peak of this streaming mountain, there’s no denying that. So it makes sense the platform has now set up a new piece of software for those who are fresh to streaming, to make it a little more comfortable. In Beta at present, Twitch Studio is a quick and easy way of streaming on the site with more purple than your Mum’s bedside cabinet.
This new Studio software is meant to make it easier for new users to get into streaming. While many streamers who are more experienced in making videos and streaming might use OBS, it is slightly daunting to figure out what it all means. So much so that many on YouTube have made videos of “How to stream 1080P 60FPS with OBS,” which just isn’t true for all, and creates frustration with the software. One would assume this new Twitch focused software will do a lot of the backend work for you, while you are free to edit the screen furniture. One would assume going so far as to do away with stream keys that identify users to the platform they stream to.
With only minimal testing and playing with the software, it is entirely focused on getting more and more talent onto their platform quicker. It is about making people comfortable with streaming and having something quite professional from the start. Given Youtube has been forced into complying with COPPA, this quick move by Twitch is a spaff in the face of their closest competitors.
