Aren’t there a lot of streaming services? I mean, you have Amazon Prime which has at most some men falling down, Disney+ is a collection of things you’ve seen a million times but crashes a lot, and Netflix commissions any old dreck. That’s not to mention CBS with their collection of crap, HBO with a whole lot of nothing, as well as the WWE Network and Fite TV for a bit of the wrestling. There’s so much, yet we never know what to watch because we want to watch it all.
Let’s talk about Netflix for a moment. A few years ago, they were the kids of the streaming world, they had the exclusives and practically no competition. The problem with being the front runner for future tech is, it is nice and spacious when you begin, now everyone wants a bit of that action. This includes The Witcher, which started out as Polish fantasy novels as large as Game of Thrones was a few years ago. Then they were adapted into games. Those games were for the most part PC focused until The Witcher 3, one of the best western-RPGs in the world. Yes, suck it Skyrim.
Now with a Netflix show on the horizon, there are a lot of fans of the series wondering what is going to happen with the Netflix exclusive series. Starring everyone’s 10th favorite Superman as Geralt of Rivia, Henry Cavill has been well received as the second man to play the lead following the 2001 film The Hexer and the 2002 series of the same name. Really it is the best the team could have hoped for, as long as the trailer was well-received, nothing could go wrong.
Well, it seems since the release of the trailer and the hype following that reveal, Netflix seems to be confident about its success. According to the series creator and executive producer, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, Netflix has already commissioned a second season before anyone has seen the first. This may also be partly due to the comments by Hissrich earlier this month stating the team has several seasons planned out already.
I’m so thrilled to announce: Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri will be back for more adventures… in Season Two.
I could not be more proud of what the amazing cast and crew of The Witcher have accomplished, and can’t wait for the world to dig in and enjoy these stories with us. ❤️⚔️🐺 pic.twitter.com/evWoHvUl1e

Either way, I know many of us are excited about the release of the series, mostly so we can complain about it online afterward. That said, season two is expected to begin production early next year for a late 2020 or 2021 release. The first season is set to release on the 20th of December this year.
