Holidays always provide a good excuse for game stores to have a sale, and Halloween is usually accompanied by a horror game sale. The indie dev friendly storefront, itch.io, has jumped to the forefront, kicking off its own Halloween sale yesterday.

Headlining the sale is Halloween itch.io Selects 2019, a collected bundle of five games. Normally almost $55 altogether, the bundle is a mere $7, so it’s a good deal to jump onto. One of the games in the bundle is Lucah: Born of a Dream, an excellent hack-and-slash action game with an oppressive atmosphere. Phenixx Gaming has checked out the Switch port and the bundle’s worth getting for this game alone. The game is joined by the visual novel/match-three mix The World Next Door, murder mystery game The Hex, the critiques of art education offered by ART SQOOL and the horror short stories of The Silence Under Your Bed.

Of course, there’s a bunch of stuff beyond that. For instance, there’s the horror works of Puppet Combo, like their recently released Scary Tales Vol. 1, which is on sale. Also, I didn’t know there was a commercial version of Haunt the House, a cute flash game that’s also on sale, I guess. The sale isn’t just limited to spooky stuff; as an itch.io user, I can say that it’s actually kinda easy to put games on sale. Stuff like the goofy hidden object game Hidden Folks and cutesy walkaround LIBRARY joins the repertoire of scary games, so hey, if you’re not interested in horror, there’s definitely some stuff for you.

Video games aren’t the only thing itch.io has for offer. Rules for tabletop games are also on sale, like superhero horror RPG Don’t Rest Your Head. As itch.io is also a hub for indie developers, the site also offers game development resources that are also on sale. itch.io’s Halloween Sale will be going on until November 4th, so there’s plenty of time to check out what’s on offer!
