Payday’s Swedish developer Starbreeze returns following rough times from lay offs of staff, selling off their publishing rights on their popular games, and especially the utter failure of Overkill’s The Walking Dead. This time the developer, having high hopes, had a recent blog post on their site saying a cash flow is expected to come about soon; due to their latest installment in the Payday series, which if you weren’t already aware of, is a mobile game titled Payday: Crime War.

Specifically, the confidence comes from the conclusion of a publishing agreement of Payday 3 during the first half of 2020 and financial backing from it, and a payment from the publishing agreement of Payday: Crime War.

The blog post states; “The company estimates that these cash flows will be positive, based on expected new publishing agreements in 2020 and an expected release of Payday 3 in 2022–2023

Due to the expected cash flow, fans of the series should be happy to know the next big installment in the same franchise, Payday 3 is in fact coming and should be expected around 2022-2023. Starbreeze says it will be giving out formal reconstruction plans to its investors. As such, the plans include, splitting its publishing and development arms, Starbreeze Publishing AB and Starbreeze Studios AB. With Starbreeze Publishing AB holding the rights to the Payday IP. “It is in New Starbreeze Publishing AB that the Group’s cash flows will be generated,” the developer says.

After the failure that was Overkill’s The Walking Dead and the continuing hardships they’ve dealt with; Starbreeze hopes to get things working again with the new reconstruction plans, betting it all on their new titles in development. Lets hope they actually make it to 2022, and that the new titles will be actual note worthy games.
